New Barnet parish to become 36th to receive Livesimply award!

The Catholic church of Mary Immaculate and St Peter’s in New Barnet, Westminster Diocese, is to become the 36th parish in the country and the fifth in Westminster Diocese to receive the Livesimply award.

Barbara Kentish of Westminster J&P and Ellen Teague of Columban JPIC assessed the North London parish for the award on 16 March. The parish lead contacts were Stephen Hill and Sheila Gallagher, and parish priest Fr James Fasakin joined them in showing
the assessors around the Spiritan parish with a congregation of around 300.

The New Barnet parish explained their Livesimply work over the past four years, starting with securing Livesimply pledges from more than 80 parishioners in 2014 and keeping in regular contact with them by text messaging and e-mail. They have been active in CAFOD campaigns, collecting goods for refugees in Calais, and a ‘friendship’ project which reaches out to vulnerable and housebound people. Continue reading

John has been an active Campaign Volunteer both in his own Parish of St John Vianney, West Green Road , Tottenham as well as in neighbouring Parishes in the Haringey Deanery over 13 years.

Congratulations to CAFOD Volunteer Mary O’Neill!

CAFOD Volunteer Mary O’Neill has been recognised for all her volunteer work for CAFOD by being presented with the Papal blessing.

A big congratulations to Mary O’Neill who this week was presented with the Papal blessing in recognition for all her volunteer work for CAFOD. Mary was the founder of the Holy Family CAFOD Group in Welwyn Garden City and a CAFOD volunteer for over 40 years.

The Papal Blessing Certificate, was issued by Pope Francis and was awarded to Mary at a mass at her parish, Holy Family, which was attended by family, friends and CAFOD representatives.  Continue reading
