CAFOD School Volunteers are all prepared to visit schools this Harvest!
A big thank you and well done to our School Volunteers who attended the Harvest Refresher training, it was truly inspiring to see how they interpreted the CAFOD resources!
This year Harvest Fast day is on Friday 7th October and our CAFOD School Volunteers are ready to Brighten Up our world with the training and resources they have received on Bolivia.
On a unusually summery day for this time of year, our School Volunteers gathered to be introduced to the Harvest Fast Day schools resources for this term.
We began the day with a beautiful reflection, before an icebreaker activity. This year the CAFOD Schools volunteers were able to experience the Catholic Social Teaching Cards which was really interesting to see how we all interpret the 8 key principles (common good, solidarity, rights and responsibilities, participation, human dignity, stewardship, option for the poor, subsidiarity).
We then began a journey into CAFOD’s focus country for Harvest Fast Day this year, which is Bolivia.
Harvest is known for the reaping of crops in the busy farming season. CAFOD School Volunteers were “Inspired for primary Harvest, to bring in some poor soil and rich compost to give meaning” to the difficulties faced by almost half of the population in Bolivia, where people depend on farming to make a living.
Primary schools can find out find out how CAFOD is supporting families like Ruben’s to grow enough food for themselves.
Secondary schools can find out how CAFOD is supporting families like Rebeca’s to grow enough food for themselves.
Thank you to the schools who are already welcoming CAFOD Volunteers into their schools this autumn. It’s not too late to book a visit! Contact Joanna Jarvis at: email@example.com
