Ethiopia Food Crisis Appeal
Thank you for all your help
Over 10 million women, men and children in Ethiopia are currently struggling to survive a severe hunger crisis caused by drought. Food shortages and ‘food insecurity’ – an inability to get enough good, nutritious food – are having an extreme impact on the most vulnerable families.
We have has launched an urgent appeal for £3 million to help over 10 million people in Ethiopia facing extreme hunger. Many thanks to all our parishes that have generously donated to support our brothers and sisters in Ethiopia. Here we look at four fundraising ideas to help our sisters and brothers overseas.
Year of Mercy
Solidarity with Refugees
Thank you for all you have done so far to show solidarity with those fleeing war, poverty and persecution.
Thousands of people of all ages have been using CAFOD’s pilgrimage reflection in parishes and schools, and have been moved to write messages of hope to refugees.
These messages will be delivered later this year. CAFOD Westminster together with Westminster Justice and Peace recently held a Lampedusa Cross liturgy at Notre Dame de France, London. See our blog here for further details.
If you haven’t got your parish or group involved yet, this is where you can find all the resources you need to organise a pilgrimage or card-signing during the Year of Mercy.

September World Day of Prayer
Pope Francis has established 1 September as the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, encouraging the Catholic community around the world to pray for our common home.
