Cut it out for Lent Fast Day, 27 February 2015

This Lent Fast Day will focus on CAFOD’s work helping communities in Myanmar to recover from and prepare for climate-related natural disasters.

CAFOD is enabling our brothers and sisters in Myanmar to build a stronger community in preparation against the changing climate which produces such severe cyclones, floods and droughts.

CAFOD invites you to support people living with the effects of climate change in countries like Myanmar this upcoming Lent Fast Day. Your work will help them make a difference to their lives! Make arrangements with your parish priest to deliver the Lent Fast Day talk at Mass at one of the weekends of 21 and 22 February or alternatively 28 February and 1 March and also to arrange for collections the weekend after.

Lent fundraising will have double the impact this year because we have been awarded UK Aid match funding for our Lent appeal. This means the UK Government will match pound for pound every donation given to our Lent 2015 appeal, up to a total of £5 million. In light of this opportunity, each parish will be issued with new envelopes which must be used for collections this Lent Fast Day in order to take advantage of this chance for your generosity to go twice as far.

If you fancy doing more there are many options available for fundraising! Why not give up something for Lent and have people sponsor you? Or instead, do something for Lent! Set up a frugal lunch at your parish, and give the donations to CAFOD? If you need some inspiration, take a look at what CAFOD staff are cutting out!

If you would like to arrange for a CAFOD volunteer to visit your parish or school about Lent Fast Day or if we can help in any way get in touch on 0208 449 6970 or
