Just as climate negotiations were beginning in Warsaw in November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan–the most powerful storm to make landfall–struck the Philippines. As you see in the above video, one of the Filipino delegates, Yeb Saño, announced that he would fast until the end of the two week conference or until real progress was made on climate change. When others started to follow his example, the international Fast for the Climate movement began.
On Sunday, 1 February, CAFOD and Westminster Justice and Peace would like to invite you to pray and fast with us in our quest to urge others to act on the climate. We will pray and share a simple bread and soup meal before exploring CAFOD’s One Climate One World campaign, and what steps we can all take ahead of both the UK elections in May as well as the Paris Climate Talks in December 2015.
The evening will take place at Romero House, London SE1 7JB, from 7pm to 9pm on Sunday, 1 February. For more information or to book a place, contact the CAFOD Westminster office on 0208 449 6970 or email@example.com
