Thank you to everyone who came to Understanding CAFOD Day!

Thank you to everyone who came along to find out more about CAFOD at Understanding CAFOD Day last Saturday!

Nearly 70 Catholics from across the South-East came together this weekend to find out how volunteering can help CAFOD (the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) in their work alongside developing communities around the world at this year’s Understanding CAFOD Day.

Taking place at Romero House, CAFOD’s Head Office in Lambeth, Understanding CAFOD Day is an annual opportunity for those interested in CAFOD to get an overview of their work as an organisation. Attendees were able to learn about the vision, mission, and values which form the basis of CAFOD’s work, CAFOD’s history, how CAFOD is funded, and how CAFOD is working throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America. There were also chances to meet and hear stories from existing volunteers, staff, and CAFOD partners working overseas.

In the afternoon, volunteers took part in a number of interactive workshops covering several areas of the work done by CAFOD volunteers in England and Wales. Guests learnt about CAFOD’s Fast Day appeals and other ways CAFOD is helping to support parish life, how CAFOD is working with children and young people in schools and youth groups throughout England and Wales, and got an introduction to CAFOD’s new campaign on climate change, One Climate, One World.

Thanks again to all those who came along and helped make the day a success. If you couldn’t make it to the day but would like more information on ways in which you can volunteer, if you have any questions for which you would like answers, or if there is any other way in which we can be of help, please do feel free to get in touch with the CAFOD Westminster Office on 0208 449 6970 or
