Thank you very much to the Holy Family Friday Group for organising a fundraising barbecue for CAFOD last weekend!
On Sunday, 31 August, parishioners from Holy Family parish, Welwyn, came together to enjoy the last of the August sunshine with a barbecue to raise money for CAFOD‘s work with people around the world who do not have enough to eat. Sandy and Bob Leys hosted the event in their back garden, with help from Bridie Nash. Mary O’Neill, who founded the Holy Family Friday Group, was also at the event.
A raffle was held and many people kindly made donations, bringing the total raised for CAFOD to a wonderful £250. This is more than enough to pay to build a greenhouse so that a community in Bolivia can make the most of their growing space to produce enough food to eat and sell.
With Harvest Fast Day less than a month away, now is a fantastic time to hold a food-related fundraiser such as a barbecue, soup lunch or cake sale (click here for a video tutorial on how to make Malawi Crunchy Chocolate Slab!). Check out our A-Z of Fundraising Ideas here!
This year’s Harvest Fast Day will fall on Friday, 3 October. We would be very grateful if you would please check with your priest or parish CAFOD group and arrange talks on 27 and 28 September. Collections will be held the following weekend, 4 and 5 October. For more information or for help arranging a talk, please contact us on 0208 449 6970 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
