Get ready to get pedalling towards a fairer future, because Pedal Against Poverty is this Sunday!
CAFOD supporters from London, Hertfordshire and further afield will gather in the morning of Sunday, 23 June, for a refreshing summer cycle through the beautiful Lee Valley Country Park. Riders of all ages will take part in either a 10 mile ride starting in Cheshunt or an 18 mile course for more experienced riders beginning in Ponders End. Riders on both routes will meet up at the midway point in Broxbourne for a community picnic. Full event details can be found below:
Long ride starting point and time: Ponders End Lock, EN3 4XX (click here for map), arrive at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. PLEASE NOTE: Trains will not be stopping at Ponders End this Sunday. If travelling with a Bike it would be best to travel to Southbury or Edmonton Green and then ride to Ponders End Lock. Plan your journey at Transport for London to determine the route best for you: www.tfl.gov.uk.
Short ride starting point and time: Cheshunt Pindar Car Park, EN8 9AQ (click here for map), arrive at 10.30am for a 10.50am start.
Midway meeting point: Broxbourne Old Mill and Meadow, EN10 7AW (click here for map).
Please remember that all riders are required to wear a helmet and that under 18s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Hopefully we will be blessed with the same glorious sunshine we cycled in last year but, just in case, you might want to pack with showers in mind and wear your CAFOD vest over your clothes for some extra protection. The ride will go on regardless of the weather so do not be discouraged if it does start to rain!
If you don’t cycle or can’t make it to the ride, you can still help make a real difference by sponsoring us at www.justgiving.com/cafodwestminster.
Thanks again to everyone who has agreed to take part in this year’s ride and help us make a difference to the lives of people living in poverty. Good luck on the day and we look forward to seeing you there!
