Join Team CAFOD for a fun-filled, festive day out for the whole family at the second annual Nativity Run!
Participants will run, walk or jog a 5k course around Clapham Common before moving on to the Windmill pub to enjoy warm mince pies, mulled wine, and hot chocolate–all while dressed as angels, shepherds and other characters from the nativity.
Not only will kids and grownups have a great time getting dressed up and keeping fit together, but they will really be able get into the charitable spirit of Christmas as they raise sponsorship money for the world’s poorest people. With adult entry only £10, teens aged 12-17 registering for £5 and children under 12 going free, this is the perfect family activity for the festive season.
“The run was perfectly timed as it spurred me on to train and gave me the chance to shed a few pounds in preparation for the usual Christmas feasting!” said Diana Gibbs of Stamford Hill, who took part in the event last year, “The costumes were absolutely fantastic too; one person did the whole run with a complete crib on his head! It was great to be out jogging on a cold and frosty morning with all those CAFOD supporters raising money for such a good cause. I’m sure this year’s event will be just as good, if not better!”
Runners will be encouraged to aim to raise £30 in sponsorship for the run. This could pay for emergency treatment such as vaccinations, HIV testing and malaria treatment for a mother and baby, or buy a goat to provide an additional source of food and income for a rural family.
The event will take place on Saturday 15 December. Runners should meet at Clapham Common Bandstand at 10am for a 10.30am start.
