As you may be aware, CAFOD partner Father John Webootsa will soon be visiting the UK to give a number of talks about his work with young people in Kenya.
Father John runs the St John Sports Society in Nairobi’s Korogocho slum which, with CAFOD’s support, offers more than 300 young people in Korogocho the opportunity to partake in sports such as football, netball, karate, tae kwon do and boxing. With their motto of ‘Pamoja Tunaweza’ (‘Together we can’), the club offers the young people somewhere safe and fun to play, and, most of all, helps them gain self-confidence, discipline, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Alongside his work at St John’s, Father John is also a committed campaigner and was recently awarded the inaugural Franco-German Human Rights Award.
The first talk will take place on Tuesday 11th September at St Joan of Arc Church, 60 Highbury Park, London, N5 2XH. Click here for a map. Guests should arrive at 7.30pm as the talk begins at 8pm.
A second talk will take place the following day on Wednesday 12th September at 2pm at the Catholic Church of Christ the King, Cockfosters, N14 4HE. Click here for a map.
These talks are fantastic opportunities to hear a firsthand account of why the work of CAFOD and its partners is so important and how your contributions can help those that need it most.
