This afternoon we were collected by Osmar from CAFOD Partner APOIO who is co-ordinator of the Urban Programme.
I met many inspirational workers including Manuel, Nete and Janaina who I had previously spent time with back in 2006.
I learned how CAFOD’s partners have achieved much through their advocacy work, through which they are providing support to vulnerable people and communities across Sao Paulo.
As a direct result of CAFOD support , APOIO has been able to ensure that communities and individuals are able to benefit from social policies and gain access to social housing.
Over the next few days I will be visiting one of the 30 night shelters which APOIO runs providing shelter for 3,000 people who would otherwise be sleeping on the streets.
I will also visit the CAFOD Connect 2 community tomorrow in Maua tomorrow with Nete and Janaina.
